Sitting in Stitch

A few years ago, I got Ross a Stitch Clothes Hamper, but this summer Owen kidnapped it. He loves it! He sits in it all the time. I think its funny.

Harris Hangs Out

Last week our cousin ,Harris, came to spend the day with Owen and me. We had a great time playing with all the toys; lounging on the couch watching Teletubbies; and running around.

When Ross got home, he got into the act too.

Later Lilly and Kyle stopped by but alas, I forgot to take more photos.

Here are the ones I did get:

Owen Loves to Take a Shower

Owen loves to take a shower, he stands under the water and laughs and laughs. He definitely gets that from me. I love to soak my head in a hot, hot shower.

I thought these pictures were too good not to share.

P.S. I suppose I could mention that last Thursday when I had him in the shower with me, I got out just moments before he pooped in the tub. At least in the shower, he isn't swimming in it. Yes, yes, the joys of motherhood. It did gave me good motivation to scrub the bathroom clean.

P.P.S. I suppose he does need a haircut, but I don't want to cut off his curls again!

Midnight Sun 2

Last week, my sister Joan had some very creative ideas about reaching out to Stephenie Meyer regarding the unfinished Midnight Sun.

She left her suggestions in the comments section, since I realize y'all have better things to do than look back through my blog for new comments, I thought I would post her ideas.

Joan suggested the following:
Stephenie's brother Seth (the webmaster) says he cannot forward messages, however, his email address is admin_Seth@stephaniemeyer.com if you want to shoot him a note.

Or we can reach out to Stephenie's publicists, Elizabeth Eulberg at (212) 522-7908.

Another tactic is to bring it up to media that cover her, specifically jaimee.rose@arizonarepublic .com or 602-444-8923; they might find the manuscript story interesting.

Great ideas Joan, thanks a bunch you genius thing you!

I want the scientific answer....

So Friday I had to take Ross to the pediatrician because he has a sinus infection that was on the edge of an ear infection. While we were there, I asked them to give Owen the shot he missed at 15 months because of a vaccine shortage. Ross was very keen on seeing Owen get a shot.

On the way home, I reminded a gloating Ross that he was still looking at a lifetime of stick and pricks, especially when he got old like me. I pointed out to him how many times I had to get stuck while we were waiting for Owen.

At this point, Ross (who is 9) changes the conversation by interjecting: "You know, I just don't get it, exactly how did you make a baby?"

Yes at that point you could hear crickets in the car and I started to cringe, I was not ready for this question...in the car...on the fly... so I replied, "That is a very good question Ross."

Ross continued: "I want the scientific answer, not the other answer."

"Of course," says I, "I will give you a scientific answer. What other answer do you think I would give you?"

"The religious answer about Heavenly Father did it." says Ross.

Then Ross adds, "Do you even know how it happened?"

I did not laugh, just so you know, I assured Ross, "Yes I know exactly how it happened." and then I got brilliant and told him, "Ross that is a great question" (again)"but the answer is a little too complicated to give you in the car while we are driving around, so if you will ask me and Daddy tonight at dinner, we will give you a scientific answer."

"Okay" replies Ross "cause you know really except for the hair and the private spots, girls and boys aren't all that different."

At this point I was taking deep breaths.

So far, Ross has not remembered to ask again and when he does I am going to go with the less is more plan.

Oh my, I remember when Joan and I asked that question, Mom got us a book, it was gross. I also remember in 6th grade health when all the girls had to watch a video and Catherine Hawkins asked the question "But how..." All I could think was eeeeewwwww!

Luckily I got over that. :)

It was a good day!

On Saturday Jason and I both went to Baton Rouge. He drove over with a work crew to saw trees and remove debris. I went on a bus with a bunch of sweet ladies to do Temple Work.

It was just what we both needed, a day of service and fellowship.

So I just want to say thank you to Andrea for being my bus/temple buddy. I had so much fun talking with you.

Thank you to Jason for making me go and being such a good example. You already know I love you a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And a huge shout out to Carolyn for making it all possible by riding herd over my two boys all day long! Love you Carolyn!

I hope a big group will turn out for Houma this Saturday, they need the help and we need to help!

Midnight Sun

Some of y'all probably read my posts about the Twilight books. Well, Stephenie Meyer also wrote a great book called The Host and she started writing a book called Midnight Sun, which is Edward's take on Twilight. Apparently someone leaked a copy of the partial manuscript onto the Internet. To make a long story short, Stephenie was understandably upset and has stopped writing Midnight Sun indefinitely. You can read the partial manuscript and her side of the story on her website.

My point is, I and a number of my friends who loved Twilight have read Midnight Sun and desperately want Stephenie to finish what she started. We have no way to reach her with our pleas so, I am hoping that all you bloggers who are peeking at my blog will pass this along until it reaches someone who knows someone who knows Stephenie.

All the Twilight fans here in Mobile Alabama really, really, really, really want Stephenie to finish Midnight Sun, we can't wait to buy it and read it!!!!!!!!!!

Brotherly Love

I love how sweet Ross and Owen are with each other. They love each other so much, I thought y'all would like these pictures from the last two weeks.

Yes, Ross did get in the tub with Owen with his clothes on, but who cares.

Owen is trying to move the drain with his foot, what a nut!

There's a monkey on my back, no it's just Owen...

I am showing you these very unlovely pictures of me so that you can see Owen clinging to my back with no help from me. When I am at my computer, Owen likes to climb on to my chair and then climb on to me. He hangs on like a monkey, even if I get up, walk around and take his picture. So try to focus on Owen and not me, it was a "slump around the house and do chores" day anyway.

I have also been meaning to tell y'all about last week, when Owen got a potato from the kitchen and took a bite out of it. He didn't like it much because he spit the bite out and threw the rest of the potato behind the TV, where I couldn't reach it. Of course I was also on the phone at the time.

That afternoon I found myself saying..."Ross please get the potato from behind the TV." Yet another first thanks to Owen, what a nut!

Awww nuts...Owen loves Teletubbies

Well, I finally found something to keep Owen's attention while I do dishes, laundry, email, shower... He loves Teletubbies. Loves, loves, loves them. He would watch all day if I let him. Luckily we have a DVD and a VHS tape from Ross' toddler days because they finally went off PBS.

Sigh...I had almost forgotten about Teletubbies, darn it!

Tinky Winky...Dipsy...LaLa...Po...Teletubbies...Teletubbies...say Hello!

Ross 0 - Floor 1

Well, I haven't posted in a while because I have been up to my armpits in sick children.

Owen was sick Labor Day weekend, which didn't matter anyway since Hurricane Gus made it a soggy mess. He ran a 2 1/2 day fever.

Then after one day back at school, Ross woke up at 3 am Thursday morning with a fever too. He was home Thursday and Friday. By Sunday he was better and ready to play. So, on Monday I sent him to school. About 9:30 that morning I got the call from Nurse Cathy. Ross had fainted in the bathroom after P.E.

Ross spent all of P.E. running the track to get marks. (If you get a certain number of marks, you get a little foot to wear on your shoe. The more laps you run, the more marks, the more diffrent color little feet. Ross wants to beat his lap total from last year.) After P.E. Ross' class went to the bathroom. Ross says that he was really hot and felt dizzy. The next thing he knew, he was on the floor and Andrew Chandler was looking at him funny.

I picked Ross up and we went straight to Dr. Huetteman. She thinks the combination of Ross running and being hot and slightly dehydrated from his virus all made him light-headed. He must have hit his head because he had a bruise on his forehead. Luckily, he is very hard-headed. LOL

Anyway, so after another day of rest and fluids and a note to sit out P.E. on Tuesday, Ross is back to school and I hope back to normal. P.E. has been over for 30 minutes and no phone calls, so ...

I guess a boring hurricane is the best kind!

Hurricane Gustav has been less than exciting here. What a party pooper, the last good weekend of the summer to play and all of that drowned by Gustav!

I just wanted to say I am totally bored!

I hope they don't cancel school tomorrow.

Not that I wanted a big hurricane, just tired of all this rain.
