Goodbye Air Conditioner, Hello Amberly Swim Club

On the Saturday before Memorial Day, our AC died, it really died. It had been suffering for a couple of years and finally croaked. We are going to have to get a new one, but that takes time.
Thank goodness we joined the swim club. On Memorial Day afternoon, I was so hot and sticky and Owen was so tired and fussy that Jason took pity on us and took us swimming.
It was just the thing to cool off and wear Owen out. Owen loves all the balls at the pool, especially the little basketballs.

Cruisin' in the Jeep.

Hangin' out at the babypool.

Now if Owen will only learn to let the ball go...

Surf's up in the baby pool!

Chillin' in the floatie. He almost went to sleep in it. Notice all the balls.

My handsome boys, stand back ladies, they are all mine!

Indiana Ross and the Temple of Legos

Ross got a Target Gift Card from Aunt Melissa, Uncle Jon, Arielle, Danielle and Sophia for his birthday and of course it burned a hole right through his pocket. He used his birthday gift to buy an Indiana Jones Lego set. He really, really wanted it and was so excited. This time, he put it together all by himself with only a tiny little help from me.

Notice on the top of the temple are hieroglyphs of Princess Leah, R2D2 and C3PO. Also available in Lego, very tricky.

Hello Owen (updated)

When Jason and I bought the new digital camera just before Owen was born, I was very excited to be able to share all the fabulous pictures of our new baby boy with our friends and family. However, the pictures were so big, I couldn't send them to anyone. The very best thing about my blog is that I can share my pictures with everyone. Since Jason hasn't uploaded any recent pictures (and still hasn't shown me how to do it). I thought I would reach way back to last April and put up the pictures of everyone who came to visit Owen when he was brand new.

I hope you enjoy this trip down memory lane, here everyone is in chronological order.

Owen was born in the wee small hours of Sunday, April 1, 2007. I was the first to hold him, but all those pictures are a little too "National Geographic" for my blog, so we will start with the second person to greet Owen, his very proud and very tired Daddy.

Next was Mamaw. Jason's Mom stayed with me during labor and delivery. One thing I love about my mother-in-law is that she knows how to tell me what I need to hear, which is usually "stop whining and get the job done", but in a really nice way that doesn't make me want to smack her. I am very grateful Mom was there with me, she made me feel a lot less scared and just let me ramble on when the drugs kicked in. Narcotics make me very chatty, very chatty and remove all my conversation filters. Thanks Mom, I love you!

Here is me, cleaned up and very rough, but hey, I just had a baby, I totally rock!

Then Aunt Danielle still pregnant with Harris. I told her having a baby was super easy and didn't hurt at all. ;0

Next came Owen's Aunt Angela (Jason's sister), Uncle Matt, and his cousins, Ashlynn, Noah and Ella

At last a big brother. I was so excited to introduce Owen to the best brother ever, Ross.

Miss Lisanka couldn't wait to get hold of Owen. He sure loves her and jumps in her arms everytime she comes around.

Look at his litte foot!

Owen with Miss Andrea. He loves Andrea but he is really, really crazy about Mike.

Then comes Jason's Dad, Papaw.

Here is Mamaw again, looking beautiful after some sleep.

This is Jason's grandmother - Mamaw to us, Neena to the great grand children.

Stacie Constantine, a very old friend.

Susan Fairchild, as the mother of four, she knows about babies.

Tori Constantine, beautiful daughter of Stacie.

This happy lady is Owen's Grandma Dorothy. As you know, my Mother is gone, Dorothy is my other Mom (it is a long story for another posting). Dorothy fills in a big part of the hole Mother left in my life and in my heart. I am so glad she could come and spend some time with Owen.

Next came Kim Singleton with her beautiful daughters.

This is Elizabeth Singleton (Birdie to us, Sister Birdie to Ross). Birdie was Ross' Sunday School teacher. I hope she will get to teach Owen too.

Shawn Kirby but still a Singleton

Daddy's back for more Owen time.

This is our cousin Shelia, just about the nicest person you will ever meet, she is a great lady and we love her.

Our cousin Joel who we love very much. He is very much like my Daddy in a lot of ways and lucky enough to be married to Shelia.

Another wonderful cousin, Elizabeth (pregnant with her own boy Justin) see beauty runs in my family.

Ross came to visit Owen after school.

One of my other mothers Olinn Olsen. Some of my best memories took place in her kitchen.

Now I have to make a confession, I have twin cousins who look almost exactly alike, they are very different, but unless I am talking to them, I can't tell which is which. Ashley and Allison, don't hate me, I love you both! So, I think this is Allison but I honestly can't tell. Both of them came to see Owen, they are both wonderful and my children love them. I'm sorry!

I know for sure this is Lee Odom, he has an identical twin too, but they don't look that much alike anymore. On the phone is a different story, because they sound just a like, but in person I can tell.

This is Brandon and Cameron, our neighbors with Jason holding Owen. Owen loves it when Brandon and Cameron come to play.

This funny looking fellow is Nathan Jurgens, a very good friend of ours from Church and a very, very nice man.

This is my best friend from high school, Dr. Jennifer Cole. She is having a baby now too.

Good News and Bad News for Ross

Okay, the good news is that Ross got Straight A's on his report card! We are so very very proud. That totally makes up for the bad news, 2 count them 1, 2 cavities that have to be drilled and filled on June 16th.

Ross and I went to the dentist for our check up last Friday. I have great teeth, Ross has very thin enamel on his baby teeth. Two baby teeth on the top have developed small cavities where they touch the teeth next door and food gets trapped.

I was all for having them yanked but he needs to keep them 2 or 3 more years, so drill and fill. Poor Ross he doesn't really like the dentist that much anyway. He goes but he can only stand about 5 minutes in the chair. Luckily our hygienist, Miss Carol is understanding and works very fast. Jason is the same way. (Something you didn't know about Jason, those little metal hook things make him come unglued, he hates them.)

Here is Ross in the chair.

Ross getting banana flavored fluoride, yuck!

End the end it was worth it because Ross got 2 toys.

No More Curls...

I did. Today I took Owen to Miss Julie for his first haircut, and darn if he isn't just as cute as he was with the curls. Here are some before and after pictures.

Owen Ross and Miss Julie (she gave Ross his first haircut too). She cuts the whole family, Jason won't trust anyone but her and she got him to use styling products. :)

The curls...

Owen says: "Wait a minute..."

The secret, give Owen a lollipop and he is very happy, he doesn't mind hair on his lollipop either.

Look how handsome he is!
