A word of warning about Twilight...

While I stand behind my recommendation for the Twilight books, I should caution you Moms and Dads that I personally don't believe these are books for "young adults" ie teenagers.

I guess some teenagers already know enough, but I do not want Ross to read them until he is much older. While they are not graphic and spotlight waiting till marriage, they are very specific about the kind of passion and physical urges that are part of intense attractions and relationships.

I think the books will give ideas to and peak the curiosity of anyone who has never been in a physical relationship.

I suppose by today's standards this is mild stuff, but I don't think it is good for youth, especially the 3rd and 4th books.

Holy cow it is good stuff, but only if you are already married.

So while Book 1 isn't too bad, I urge you to read all four books first and make up your own mind.

As I said, I can't even get Kendal to read her required books for school so there's little chance she'll read this one. We always read unknown books first anyway as we did with Harry Potter. Thanks so much for the warning! I was just thinking I might read it since it's sitting around collecting dust=)

I really loved the books, but I too thought they were a little grown up for teens...especially Breaking Dawn. I'm not usually into fantasy/sci-fi, but she made them seem realitively down to earth. Yummy books!

I loved the books, but was suprised they were for young adults. My cousin the librarian said the young adult readers are 7th grade and up, that means 12. I hate to think what some 12 year olds know, probably most more than me and I have had children!
I have let Ross read Harry Potter. Those are a little scary, but not sexy.

Hi! Thanks for the comment. The funny thing is...I feel like a friend of Andrea's is a friend of mine. It has been so great to make new friends, especially when we are so much alike.

I really like this post! There has been so much controversy about these books here in Mo-town (that's Mormon Town). I have attended YW's lessons fully devoted to the YW president's opinion of these books. Mother's recommending these books to their daughters, only to be chastised by some church leaders. And on the other hand, Camp and some YW Leaders loving and recommending the book to the girls! And this is just MY ward!
My opinion is this..."to each, their own". It's like television shows. There are shows that I would never let my kids watch. However, everyone's judgment is different, and what's inappropriate for some, may not be for others. I have an Aunt who thinks her MARRIED daughter has crossed over to the dark side because she chose to read them, against her mother's pleading. My daughter's are too young for me to have to make such decisions, so thankfully I can say that I love them! I haven't read past Eclipse, but I plan to, and I look forward to it! ha, ha...So there!!!

I've been considering reading these books. I don't read too much, but love love love Harry Potter. If you reccommend these I think I'll go ahead. Thanks Ann! I enjoy your blog.
