Boot Camp

Last weekend was Stake Conference. Basically that is a big meeting for all the members of our church in South Alabama and South West Mississippi. The adults have training and meetings on Saturday night and then we all get together on Sunday morning for a 2 hour church meeting. The meetings are run by the Stake Leaders and a General Authority usually attends. This time we had Elder Jenson of the Seventy, the Birmingham Temple President and his wife and the Mission President with this wife. It was a great meeting, the Spirit was very strong on Sunday and Elder Jenson with funny and inspiring. The youth speakers were amazing too. Sorry if y'all missed it!

This year I did not have to attend any Saturday training (heeheehee) so I decided to stay home with the kids and let Jason go. We invited the Constantine and Odom kids to join us so their parents could go and so we could have some company.

We had so much fun,all 10 of us! Owen loved being with all the kids, especially Ariel.
(Tori came up with the name "Boot Camp" while I was reviewing the rules, no kool-aid on the furniture and stuff like that...)

We ate Pizza and Brownies with Ice Cream picnic style in the Den.

We played outside on the big swing set. We played on the Wii. The kids had several very exciting rounds of TV Show King (of course I am still the King).

Ross and Christian

Tori and KayKay

Ariel and Tori who got along like Peas and Carrots.

The kids played McDonald's and got out all of Ross' costumes and hats.

We had a huge pillow fight free for all, no pictures cause I was in the middle of the fight. (I haven't forgotten that I owe Ariel one for a totally cheap shot to the head, a good shot but a cheap shot! :) ) When they were finally worn out, we watched a movie spread out all over the chairs and couches.

Frankly, I enjoyed myself so much, I may do this every year instead of going to Saturday night meetings. Thanks Mike and Andrea and Mark and Spuffy for sharing your family with us!

Wow! Stake Conference is an entirely different experience for you guys. Over here, your Stake covers a 1-2 miles radius and you live a few doors away from the Stake Center. Your Stake Conference sounds like a ton more fun. Ours is just like any other Saturday, except wrestling with the kids for two hours knowing there will be no Primary.
Mike and I got to meet the Birmingham Pres. earlier this year. I forgot my temple recommend, so I got to know him better than I should have. Ooops! He was really cool!

Our Stake runs from Pascagoula Mississippi to the Florida/Alabama Line and from Dauphin Island all the way to Toxey and Evergreen AL, that's halfway to Montgomery.

So if you drove it East to West on the interstate it would take you about 2 hours. If you drove interstate and highways North to South it could take as much as 4 hours. So when people come to conference, some of them get hotel rooms or bring a lunch and have to make a day of it. We live about 15 to 20 minutes from the Stake Center which is pretty close. The next 2 closest buildings are 30 to 40 mintues away. Everything outside of that circle is at least an hour away.

Walking to church is very strange. It might be nice though. Still, I think I perfer to live in the "mission field" it keeps life interesting. We did have a ton of fun, cause it is nice to see everyone together.

Oh, but you have to be dead for that.

So we need to investigate you guys for human cloning.

Carly brought me in here to see the picks and I started typing away.

Ann, you are the BEST! Thanks so much for having ALL of the kids over. They had a BLAST. Although, I'm surprised you did not mention that when we showed up, all the kids were sitting quietly on the couch like they had been doing that ALL NIGHT. LOL.
Thanks again!
P.S. You are so great at taking pics. I asked Mike if he took any while the kids were all with him last night, and he calmly said, "NO". LOL

You are so wonderful. It seems like I would love to be a kid in your house! LOL I also read all the other posts I missed. The fair looked like a blast! It has been years since I've been to a fair, and then it was only once. What a fun family time! Great job, Ross at school! You're such a smarty. I had to laugh at Owen at the doctors...that kid is EVERYWHERE! :)

I recognize the Christmas plate as the one Beth gave us 2 Christmases ago. You're really getting your dollar out of that one. We still use ours to! What a nice, non-perishable gift item that was!
