Usually when August rolls around I can't wait for Ross to back to school, but that feeling only last for a month or so and then I wait patiently for summer to start again. I loved having Ross home this week. He is such good company and so good with Owen. I love not having to make lunch in the morning and not having to get up early to get to the school bus on time. I love being able to stay in my PJ's or go on outings and visit with my family. Only 6 more weeks of school. It is almost enough to make me want to home school. Almost....
I love going to Church as a family, it is my favorite part of the week. Thanks to Owen, Church is not exactly a relaxing spiritual experience anymore, but that is okay, Owen needs to learn to go to Church and I need humility.
Today our High Counsellor spoke about teaching our children about the restored gospel and helping them gain a testimony of Jesus Christ. He mentioned my grandmother, Lillian, who was "the primary leader" for over 40 years. This was slightly ironic because they are looking for a new Primary President in my ward right now. Jason said members of the Bishopric was laughing and looking at me at that point. I was happily oblivious because I was trying to keep Owen from eating a hymnal. After many, many busy callings, I am at last the Valiant 10,11,12 teacher and a Cub Scout leader. These are the best callings ever.
Soap Box Is Out: But seriously, I often think of my grandmothers and grandfathers, the men and women who made so many sacrifices and hard choices to give me the opportunities I have today. Hugo and Buenaventura, de la Pointe, the Vrzal's and the Groh's, they all left their homes in Europe seeking something better. Olga and Jasper, Lillian and Olden, John and Judy, they worked too hard to give their children a good life for me not to do everything I can to be successful and give my children that same chance.
Whenever I am tempted not to go to Church, I think of the old ladies who sit together in Church wishing they were surrounded by their families. They have told us about not bringing their children to Church when they were little and now, they don't come when they are old and they don't bring their children. I don't want that to be me. I don't want to wish I had done what was important for Ross and Owen when I had the chance. Soap Box Is Gone
Back to Spring Break, we have had a good time. Last night we took the kids to the park. Jason and Ross played catch while Owen tried to eat pinecones. That is the good stuff!

Loved your soapbox Ann and I too love that you are the Valiant Teacher for Ariel's class. You are a blessing to our family. I love reading your blog. Keep it up!
Teaching primary is probably my favorite calling. I love sharing time! I'm the Relief Society secretary in my ward right now, and while I enjoy the time spent with the sisters, I'd choose primary any day of the week!
